    Hello:

My name is Travis Williams and I have been working in the film industry since June 2011. I wholeheartedly endorse Jaime Rosegren to be the next Business Representative for IATSE 479. She has always been a tireless steward of the needs of her fellow employees and has made an exceptional investment of time in the growth of our union. She is the best person I can think of to bring our union forward into its next chapter.

    Sincerely:

    C. Travis Williams

It’s time for new blood; time to make a change if we ever expect anything with our local to ever change for the better. Everything Rosie stands for is the polar opposite of what we’ve grown to expect from our union leadership. I got so tired of the BS that I quit attending meetings when my son was born, 12 years ago, and pretty much stayed out of union politics for the most part since then. Please vote for Jaime “Rosie” Rosegren to be our next 479 BA.

    Hello 479 Kin,

I am Field Representative Keith Mingo, I am endorsing Jaime Rosegren for Business Representative. Change is inevitable. 8 years ago, I became a 479-field representative. I met a talented member named Jaime Rosegren. After Jaime’s first steward position her knowledge and growth increased rapidly. She has trained and studied our 479 contracts and has been a major component in the progress of this local. When 479 did not offer a steward’s class Jaime drove to Louisiana on her own dime to local 478 to their stewards’ class. She returned to become one of our best stewards and has a strong working knowledge the IA contracts and our constitution.

Along with her many accomplishments, she served as the Set Decoration Chair on the Negotiations Committee, has experience negotiating her own deal, and is familiar with Executive Board practices. She has strong relationships with the Locals surrounding us as well as contacts with in the International. She is a small business owner and has served on the board as co-founder of an agricultural education non profit.

Jaime’s community focused approach will help unite our local. Our members require more assistance now and I know she will be able to provide this help. Jaime’s dedication to the membership, their safety, and well-being will be a priority.

    In Solidarity,

    Keith Mingo

    My fellow 479 kin,

We are heading into a runoff election for the following positions:

    Business Representative

Delegate to the Atlanta, North GA Labor Council

The ballots will go out today Nov 22nd. Voting ends Dec 12th at 4:59pm. Results will tallied Sat Dec 13th, and new officers sworn in for the Dec 14th Gen. Membership Meeting. I’m proud to stand along side Brian Marino on this ballot. He has worked tirelessly to create programs such as the 479 Entertainment Community Fund Relief Program as well as other community based relief drives and programs.

We are the closest we’ve ever been to getting real change for our members and bringing accountability back to the office of Business Representative. Over the past few years we’ve seen a slow decline in decorum, a promise to “right the ship,” and a general claim that only Mike Akins can make this local function. I’m here to tell you we can do better. We can bring accountability back to this office. We can bring a renewed sense of duty and responsiveness to the role of Business Rep, and elect someone who really wants to do the work to make our union successful and competitive in the changing landscape of Film and Television production.

I’ve spent the last several years on sets with you, both on and off production. I know the issues we face first-hand. Let’s bring this election home and elect someone who can lead us into the next chapter of film work in Georgia. I intend to encourage more of our retired members to teach more a diverse course-load of skilled classes at the hall. I want Local 479 jurisdiction to be respected as a leading place to film not just because it’s cheaper, but because our crews are well trained in their duties and confident.

    Let’s get back to work!

    Jaime “Rosie” Rosegren

    Dear Union Kin,

*If you have not received your email or paper ballot, please email Election Judge Kara Weeks: electionjudge@iatse479.org  Electronic voting makes the process quick and easy, and we need everyone to participate.

A lot has happened in the last week since the announcement of Candidates for this year’s 479 election. I am writing to you in an effort to clear up rumors that have been circulating about me and to answer your questions. There has been quite a bit of malicious information said about me over the years. I invite you to have a conversation with me rather than sharing rumor.

Recently, a video was posted online of a conversation between our Business Representative and Office Manager. This conversation took place before a scheduled meeting with Bob Giolito, our Local’s attorney, as a part of the Constitution Committee that operated between 2022 to 2023. Our meetings were all recorded by the host, which in this case was the Office Manager. No, I did not post this video. No, I do not know who did. Do I feel this is an egregious attack? No, no I do not.

I’d like to discuss the topic of experience.

I have studied for the last 6 years for the role of Business Representative to this Local. I have been a Steward and a Committee Chair. I have studied with other Locals and Labor Schools. I have traveled to 478 for Steward Training when it was not offered at our Local. I flew to Cornell to study Labor organizing tactics, on my own dime.

I have direct connections and good working relationships with all of the Locals that surround our jurisdiction. When I was the Set Dec Craft Chair on the Negotiations Committee, I spoke with other ASA Locals on the issue of rate parity. They wanted it the same as our members did, and we were able to push for parity knowing other Locals felt the same.

I recognize there are aspects of the job I can only gain from experience.

    Experience can be learned.

    Advocacy is innate.

A desire and ability to fight for others is built into my bones, and I will use it to fight for you every day.

    In Community & Solidarity,

    Jaime “Rosie” Rosegren

    Dear IATSE 479 Kin,

My name is Jaime Rosegren, some of you know me as Rosie from my days on set. I am running for Business Representative for Local 479.

For too long our Local has been run by a singular figure. It’s time to allow our hard working Executive Board to serve the members without interruption or constant harassment. It’s time the Members had an active voice within our union without being targeted or facing retribution. Many of our Executive Board members have faced deliberate sabotage from within the board, some have had their duties taken from them and even had their time cards denied for actual hours worked. Our E-board, including Brian Marino, have worked tirelessly to help setup programs to support our Members. The Business Rep has been more focused on controlling the other E-board members than ensuring correct show info and strike orders are going to the membership.

Yes, this election is important. All elections are important.

    • I am committed to bringing as much work to Georgia as possible, and that includes working alongside our Lobbyist to help ensure that our Film Incentive is protected and continues to bring work to GA.
    • I want to serve our membership by providing information that is accurate and timely, and not telling different rules to different people based on their gender or race. I will increase training so that all members understand the contract and working conditions.
    • I want to strengthen our relationship with our fellow IATSE Locals as well as other Unions to bring more work to the membership. I want to bring other avenues of work under our union umbrella to expand the scope of work available to the Local. I will not deter work from being shared with our Local even if it is outside our industry.

I understand that times are tough and the current state of our industry is scary. My husband and I have both been in this industry for almost 20 years. But keeping someone in office who pushes fear mongering, retaliation, and bigotry is not how we mend divides or move forward. Every year Mike Akins claims to be leading our Local, bringing in more work, serving just one more term while he trains his replacement. I don’t see any of that happening. 26 years is enough. It’s time we work together, without diminishing each other. I want to do the work to build up this community again. Let’s move our Local forward.

    In Commitment & Solidarity,

    Jaime “Rosie” Rosegren
